The mandate

The FCT Education Resource Centre serves as the academic support hub of the Education Secretariat. Its mandate spans curriculum planning and implementation, student assessment and placement, examinations and certification, teacher professional development and mentoring, guidance and counselling, research information, instructional materials and library support.

Specialist support services

  • Plan and support curriculum delivery across FCT schools.
  • Coordinate assessment, examinations, admissions, placement and certification.
  • Train and retrain teachers and provide professional mentoring.
  • Support school counsellors and provide counselling services to learners and the public.
  • Develop and distribute instructional and educational resource materials.
  • Provide science, language, computer/internet and learning-facility support.
  • Collect, analyse and disseminate education research information.

Public outreach and collaboration

The Centre supports parents, guardians, researchers and independent learners through book fairs, counselling clinics, laboratories, workshops, ICT facilities, conferences, seminars, competitions and language-learning programmes. It also collaborates with examination bodies, education ministries, curriculum and research institutions, professional associations and development partners.
