Role within FCT ERC

TDD is the professional training arm of FCT ERC. It strengthens teachers' knowledge, skills and classroom practice through continuous learning, workshops, observation, mentoring, research, partnerships and technology-enabled support.

The original ERC service areas are broken into clearer operational blocks for easier reading on desktop, tablet and mobile.

Branch / unit

Trainings and Workshop Unit

Plans professional development in Mathematics/Science, English/Arts, early-childhood education, entrepreneurship, technical crafts and other priority areas.

Branch / unit

Research, Library and Publicity Services Unit

Researches teaching skills and curriculum content, identifies online/offline development opportunities and publicises teacher-development findings, programmes and events.

Branch / unit

Policy and Partnership Collaboration Unit

Builds collaboration with development partners and education stakeholders such as the British Council, UNESCO, NERDC, TRCN, National Mathematical Centre, Federal Ministry of Education and NUT to support policy awareness and teacher capacity.

Private School Collaboration Unit

Provides requested professional-development support to private schools and guidance on teaching ethics and curriculum compliance.

Teacher Welfare and Professional Matters Unit

Promotes professional ethics and conducts teacher-needs assessments to inform development and welfare priorities.

Mentoring and Monitoring Unit

Conducts school follow-up and mentoring, orientations for newly employed teachers, targeted support with Quality Assurance, internal TDD seminars and monitoring of Professional Learning Communities.

Education Information Technology (EIT) Unit

Produces educational resource materials and provides programme-support services including venue decoration, public-address systems, multimedia projection, photography/video, binding, lamination and photocopying.
